River low, bright conditions, hardly any ripple on the water so not the best of conditions. Had fish from several swims, Colin the baliff very helpful as always. Barbel to 6lbs+ chub to 5lbs+. Many thanks to Wye and Usk Foundation, you do a great job.

Low flow and warm water didn't help the fishing, but a beautiful stretch of the Usk.

Water level now very low, apparently as low as its been for 25 years. Hard going and whilst we managed to salvage the day with 3 barbel of the 5-7lb stamp and a small chub, they only came out to feed late in the day.

Area:Usk - Wild Stream
Beat:Lower Grywne Fawr
Fishing:Trout (River)

In very hot, dry conditions the water was extremely low and trout difficult to tempt. I did get a few offers to small dry flies, but didn't connect with anything. The coppicing has undoubtedly improved the beat but a little more maintenance would not go amiss. However, access is straightforward and the directions to the beat are easy to follow.

River very low fished normal pellet and feeder tactics as always on this stretch, fished in every swim for the entire courtfield stretch only to have two 3lb Eels at midday on first day. After walking the river and seeing a lot of fish spawning decided to fish first couple of swims on Courtfield section from Wyebanks end. I free lined bread and after a bit of perseverance had a 4ld chub quickly followed by a 5lb 7oz lump followed by another eel of at least 2lb. Will try and book again when we have more water in the river. Both morning saw salmon topping in the meadow section.

The farmers taxi service is a great addition to this very nice beat, but with bright sunshine and low clear river the only bites we had were before 10am and after 4.30pm, all fish caught on 2x 8mm pellets.

River very low and clear weather very warm and muggy. After tuesdays struggle on this stretch we weren't overly optimistic. 1 chub taken from under the bankside snags behind the island followed by another a couple of swims up.
2 of us ended up stalking the shoal of small chub that inhabit the shallow water behind the island. We had 2 out free lining bait onto their noses including the silver chub that is amongst that shoal. It is a chub but we have never seen one with that colouring. In the water it looks albino. Photo available if anyone wanted to see it.
We packed up early and headed off to Symonds Yat which was a better view than looking at a quivertip set in concrete for another 3 hours. The river desperately needs water.

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:Edw Hundred House
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Due to low water and high temps, treating the day as a recce for future visits. Parts of beat almost inaccessible due to vegetation. Plenty of small fish evident. Many fallen trees across and in the water making fishing difficult in places. Any larger fish spooked before I could get near.

Three of us fished the pebble beach section. I had a barbel of about 2 pounds first cast, then a barbel 7 pounds, a chub 3 pounds and another small barbel. When the light was starting to go we all had barbel, 7 -8 pounds. Fantastic day in beautiful surroundings. A very hot day and clear water conditions.
