I love this beat. It is very beautiful, with fabulous pools and trenches for salmon to hide in. A pity then there are next to no fish, not even trout. Even taking my ineptness into account, when wading, you would disturb fish if they were there. I did not. I have caught poachers before now, and there was evidence of them again - empty beer bottles, rubbish etc. Then there were bathers! Yes, 24 people I counted, swimming, sun bathing and even one group going up the river in a rubber duck dingy.

Fantastic evening fishing. Trout came on for that magic 2 hours, 8pm to 10pm. caught on black klinks, deer hair emergers & pheasant tails. Couple of good fish at 12-14inches, most at 10inches or smaller.

Fished all day below the Orchard. Air really cold until the sun got up then it got too hot and bright. A few bites and one chub until the sun was up then nothing, bites dried up completely. Could see massive chub against far bank but couldn't temp them.
Willow tree split and fell into field early that morning which meant the the cattle were crowded around BB's swim until all the leaves were cleared off. A surprisingly disappointing day from a stretch we thought would fish well in bright sunshine as it has the deeper swims! Better luck next year.

Another hot sunny day on a low river. Based upon our last 2 days we didn't expect much, but 3 out of the 4 of us had some barbel. We needed to use fine lines and small hooks but despite losing the odd fish had some good sport.

Water very low and clear and temperatures scorching. Still managed to find some fish in the middle of the river on groundbait feeder and pellet. Best fish just short of 10lb but average very good about 7-8lb. Boats very much a problem but some good sights!!!

Lovely summers evening, fished from 6:30pm to 9:45pm. Hot sun all day so decided to have a go in the evening only. Lots of rise to midges and other flies that I could not identify so fished a small black Klinkhammer and got 5 good takes. Landed and safely returned 2 of them, WBT to 10 inches, lost 3 more, one a beauty at approx 2lb.
River quite muddy and low and it was a struggle to get easy access to the water but still a fine way to spend a summers evening.
